Smarter Fuel is recycled vegetable oil processed specifically to be used as a replacement for diesel fuel. Industrial cleaning techniques are used to remove far more solids than any commonly used filtering system. Additionally, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) code for particle count in hydraulic oil is the standard each batch of conforms to. This allows Smarter Fuel to run as reliably as diesel fuel in properly converted vehicles.
Smarter Fuel is processed specifically as a replacement for diesel fuel which means most of the hydrogenated oil is separated out before shipping to the customer. Any bits of hydrogenated oil are as clean as the non hydrogenated and in these low concentrations will not cause filter problems even with only a small amount of heat.

Smarter Fuel vs. Yellow Grease
Yellow Grease is the name given to used vegetable oil traditionally sold on the commodities market. The primary outlet for this oil is animal feed. As a result, the quality is not suitable for use in a diesel engine.
The Truth About Micron Ratings
People often talk about micron ratings in the context of, “What micron do you filter you oil to.” “Filtering” oil to a given “micron” doesn't really tell you anything about the quality of the oil for a few reasons.
- Filter material can be either Absolute (99% of all particles at the ratings should be caught) or Nominal (some particles at that rating will be caught, but no guarantees are made). To ask what micron the oil is filtered to, says nothing about what kind of filter material was used.
- Variables such as Pressure and Temperature can effect the efficiency of filters
- Hydrogenated and Non Hydrogenated oils are not separated by a filter
